Privacy Policy
Frothley is a social platform that lets you share with different circles — your family and friends, your neighbors, the public square, and the news — and choose who sees each post. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Frothley is operated by Geekworks Unlimited, Palm Desert, California. Questions? Email privacy@frothley.com.
Information we collect
- Account details you give us: your name, handle, email address, and the city you enter. Your password is stored only as a secure one-way hash — we never see it.
- Content you create: posts, comments, photos you upload, reactions, reposts, and the family or follow connections you make.
- Technical data needed to run the service: your IP address (used for sign-in sessions and to limit spam and abuse), and basic browser information.
- Reports you submit about other people's content, so our moderators can review them.
How we use your information
- To operate Frothley — showing your posts to the audience you choose, and showing you others' posts.
- To keep accounts secure and the community safe: verifying email, resetting passwords, rate-limiting, and reviewing reported content.
- To send you service messages — like email confirmation and password resets. We don't send marketing email.
Your circles and who can see what
Frothley's whole idea is that you control your audience with each post:
- Family & Friends — private. Only people you've added and who have accepted can see these posts.
- Neighbors — shown to other members in the same city you entered.
- Public Square and News — open. Anyone using Frothley can see these, and they may be visible to people who aren't signed in.
Choose your circle thoughtfully. Anything posted to Public or News should be treated as public.
Location
The Neighbors feed uses the city you type in — nothing more. Frothley does not collect precise GPS location or track your device's movements.
Cookies
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in, plus a security token to protect your actions. We don't use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With other users, according to the circle you chose for each post.
- With service providers that help us run Frothley (for example, our web host and email delivery), who may only use it to provide those services.
- If required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of people using Frothley.
Your choices
- You can view and update your account details at any time while signed in.
- You can ask us to delete your account and associated content by emailing privacy@frothley.com.
- California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what we hold about them and to request deletion. Contact us to exercise them.
Children
Frothley is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Security
We protect your data with industry-standard measures: passwords are hashed, the site runs over HTTPS, and accounts are protected against common attacks. No online service can promise perfect security, but we work to keep your information safe.
Retention
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal information and content, except where we must keep limited records to comply with the law or resolve disputes.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Frothley grows. When we do, we'll change the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
